Cyprus’ national evacuation plan ”Estia” for the reception and repatriation of citizens of third countries, is in full operation, Government Spokesperson Constantinos Letymbiotis announced on platform “X”.
According to the Spokesperson, Cyprus was at a high level of preparedness and ‘’Estia’’ was activated on the night of 1 October by the Crisis Management Team of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, following the developments in the region.
He said that so far, no requests have been submitted for the initiation of large-scale evacuation operations. At the same time, coordination has already begun by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist the transfer of limited personnel and citizens from some countries through Cyprus, Letymbiotis said.
The Spokesperson underlined that the situation is being monitored and Cyprus is ready to support civilian evacuation operations depending on the developments, especially in case the operation of departure structures in third countries is affected.
