Former Minister Kürşad Tüzmen and a group of swimmers will be swimming from Anamur, Mersin to North Cyprus to mark the anniversary of the 20th July operation.
A ceremony was held at Anamur pier for the swimming marathon organized for the 4th time this year by Istanbul Stars Swimming Sports Club.
Kürşad in his speech said that the team will complete a 93-kilometer course by swimming from Anamur to Girne (Kyrenia).
Noting that there are national swimmers among the team, they aim to complete the course in 30-35 hours.
Participants were handed over Turkish flags by Anamur District Governor Bilal Bozdemir and Mayor Durmuş Deniz following the speech.
Former Minister Kürşad Tüzmen and the team were sent off from the Anamur Pier with a ceremony.
Swimmers will deliver the Turkish flag given to them in Anamur to Coast Guard officials when they arrive at Girne (Kyrenia) where the anniversary of the 20th July operation will take place.
