Greek Foreign Ministry welcomes the appointment of Johannes Hahn


 

The Greek Foreign Ministry welcomes the appointment of Johannes Hahn as the Special Envoy of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for Cyprus.

In a statement, the Greek Foreign Ministry notes that Hahn’s appointment “reaffirms the EU’s unwavering support for UN-led efforts for a just, viable, and functional solution in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and the EU acquis, to the benefit of all Cypriots.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Greek Cypriot side also reacted positively, with Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos saying in a message on X that he warmly welcomes the appointment of Johannes Hahn, as it constitutes “a timely and meaningful step in support of UN-led efforts for the reunification of Cyprus, in full respect of UN Security Council Resolutions and EU law.”
