Mayor of Lefkoşa (Nicosia) Turkish Municipality Mehmet Harmancı announced that work has begun to remove vehicles that have been left on the streets of Lefkosa. He said that vehicles that are not picked-up within three months will be sold.
Issuing a statement on his social media account Harmancı said:
“Good morning everyone, I would like to inform you that, within the scope of the right granted to us by the new law, vehicles that have been left on the streets for months or even years are now being moved to a safe area. Warning tickets will be left on the vehicles. If still stranded vehicles are not removed, they will then be towed away for a fee and 100 TL a day will be charged for the area that they will be kept. If not picked up by the owner, the vehicles will then be sold at an auction.
