Head of the Meteorology Department Raif İlker Buran, who was recently dismissed from his post said that he had an argument with the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı. He said that he was dismissed from his position following a dispute over appliances purchased for the new Ercan Airport. He argued that the appliances were not according to international standards.
Speaking to Yenidüzen, Buran explained that he had opposed to this situation before the new Ercan Airport terminal was opened. He said that tensions between him and Minister Arıklı had grown ever since.
Burhan had been working as the Head of the Meteorology Department since 2014.
