HP Executive Board Member detained over alleged forged documents

Ahmet Tokatlıoğlu, a member of the Central Executive Board (MYK) of the People’s Party (Halkın Partisi, HP), has been detained in connection with allegations of preparing and signing nine forged power of attorney documents.

These documents were reportedly prepared for individuals who visited his workplace and despite his lack of authority Tokatlıoğlu is accused of sealing and signing them.

According to information from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred in Kyrenia between 2 and 3 May 2025. Upon discovering these activities, police initiated an investigation, leading to Tokatlıoğlu’s detention.

It is expected that Tokatlıoğlu will appear before the court in Kyrenia today.

In a statement released by Halkın Partisi regarding the arrest, it was stated: “As reported in the press, a police investigation was launched concerning one of our MYK members following a complaint. He will be brought before the court tomorrow morning. The matter has now entered the judicial process. We have full confidence in the judiciary and will continue to follow the case closely.”
