HP files police complaint over organised billboard vandalism

The People’s Party (Halkin Partisi, HP) has filed a formal complaint with the police regarding damage to their billboards in various districts of Nicosia.

A statement from HP explained that the billboards, which display photographs of members of the National Unity Party (UBP) involved in a “fake diploma” investigation, were targeted after the controversial decision to reject the lifting of parliamentary immunity in the Parliamentary Committee.

HP leader Kudret Özersay emphasised the party’s stance, stating, “Today, with our lawyers, we filed a complaint with the police regarding those who tore the billboards. While it appears organised efforts have led to the destruction of all our posters, they will pay the price for their cowardice. We will not back down.”

The party has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, asserting their commitment to transparency and accountability.
