Introduction of Nicosia Biennial Project implemented


 

ARKHE is implementing the Eclectic Manifest – Entry to Nicosia Biennial Project. Supporters of the Biennial are the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, the Vedat Kaner Foundation, the Pasha Group, and Turkish Airlines.

Eclectic Manifest will hold events for 7 weeks, with the main theme of Diaspora and 2 side sections supporting the main theme. The scope of the 1st Eclectic Manifest consists of 20 artists, 6 stations, 8 exhibitions, 7 performances, and 5 panels.
Areas chosen for the Project are Arkhe Arabahmet Cultural Centre, Arkhe Open Area, the old French Cultural Association building, the EMAA building, Ercan Airport, and the Lefkeliler Inn. Different public spaces will also be used within the scope of Eclectic Manifest, in addition to the stations. Eclectic Manifest, which will begin on May 11, will continue for 7 weeks and end on June 22.

Artists who will produce work under the theme of Eclectic Manifest 2024 Diaspora are Sümer Erek, Derviş Zaim, Aslı Bolayır, Pınar Yeşilada, Alev Adil and Serap Kanay. Exhibitions that will take place in the 2024 Archive Section supporting the main theme are; Kadir Kaba’s exhibitions: A Century of Photography in Cyprus, From Mobiles to Photoshops, and Repeating Pain After 40 Years, which focus on the theme of Palestine, consisting of posters selected from the Hikmet Uluçam Collection.

In addition, artist Bennu Yıldırımlar will perform a special sound performance in the context of the Hikmet Uluçam exhibition.
