Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus clarifies: “I Am Fine” amid false kidnapping rumors

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has denied the reports claiming that the Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus had been kidnapped.

Following an emergency meeting of the National Security Council, Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos addressed the false reports, stating, “There were claims that the Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus had been kidnapped. This is not true.”

The false report alleged that the Israeli ambassador and two of his guards had been abducted and taken to an undisclosed location, with contact lost for several hours. Minister Kombos urged caution regarding the spread of unverified information.

Israeli Ambassador Oren Anolik personally denied the rumors with a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I’am hearing that some fake news about me circulating. Let me assure you I am fine. It seems that someone came up with a very creative way to make the whole world call me and text me and wish me a happy new Jewish year.”
