Leader of YDP and Minister Arıklı says Maraş properties belonging to GC should be returned!

The leader of the New Rebirth Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that the development of Maraş (Varosha) should continue and a ‘Goodwill Tax law’ should be implemented.

Arıklı’s statement is as follows:

“Today President Ersin Tatar briefed political parties with seats in parliament following his meeting with the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Cyprus Maria Angela Holguin during his UK contacts. The recent implementations and arrest incidents by South Cyprus were taken up during today’s discussions. We as the YDP conveyed our opinions to President Tatar”:

1) We must provide more resources to the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) to enable its effectiveness.

2) We need to enact the ‘Goodwill Tax Law’ to make Greek Cypriot properties in North Cyprus, Turkish property.

3) Individuals living in Greek Cypriot-owned properties in North Cyprus should be able to purchase them directly from the owners.

4) The development of Maraş should continue and properties belonging to Greek Cypriots should be returned. An application should internationally be submitted for usurped Evkaf properties and compensation should be given.

Arıklı concluded by stating that as the YDP party, they will continue to bring these issues to the agenda at every platform including the Council of Ministers.
