Leaders to hold new meetings with UNSG’s personal envoy

UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy for Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar will meet both leaders today.

The meeting with the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Christodulides is scheduled for 13.15 (local time) at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia.

The UNSG’s envoy is also expected to meet with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, during the day.

Holguin first met with the two community leaders earlier this week, following which she said the most important thing is to listen, not just to leaders, but to society.

Holguín is expected to convey her impressions to the both leaders regarding her week-long engagements on the island before leaving Cyprus.

As part of her contacts, the Secretary General’s Personal Envoy Holguín held meetings not only with the two leaders but also with civil society organizations on the island.
