The conservation work carried out on the Lefke (Lefka) Aqueduct by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage (TCCH) has been completed.
According to the information from the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage (TCCH) Co-Chairman Ali Tuncay, the conservation project in the Lefke (Lefka) Aqueduct, where the committee decided to intervene first and then carried out work has been completed.
Stating that the aqueduct dates back to the Venetian period, Tuncay said that the aqueduct was an important part of the regions water system and an important element of grain production back in the Ottoman period.
Tuncay emphasised that the aqueduct was not only a water channel, but also served as a mill, as documented in historical texts.
