Man with no residency permit arrested after harassing woman in street!


 

Congolese national S.S.S, who was arrested for sexually harassing a woman in Lefkoşa (Nicosia) and for illegally residing in the country with no residency permit was taken to court on July 10.

A police statement said that the suspect was seen by a woman urinating in front of an apartment building on İsmail Beyoğlu Street in Lefkoşa (Nicosia), at around 4 p.m., on July 10, 2024, just before flashing his genitals to the 25-year-old woman when she confronted him asking what he is doing.

The woman said the suspect continued to urinate, smiling and flashing his genitals at her.

The police said that the suspect, who was arrested following a filed complaint, was then identified illegally residing in North Cyprus for 924 days since December 29, 2021.

The police stated that the investigation has been completed and requested for the suspect to be detained in custody.

Judge Jale Ergüden, who evaluated the testimony before him, ordered the suspect to be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 60 days.
