METU NC Campus have developed technology that can make preliminary diagnosis for individuals with autism

Scientists from METU (Middle East Technical University) Northern Cyprus Campus have developed technology that can make preliminary diagnoses for individuals with autism.
METU Northern Cyprus Campus Computer Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Yeliz Yeşilada said that they have recently carried out a project to identify autism via eye-tracking data in a joint project with the University of Wolverhampton and Manchester University in the UK.
“We observed two individuals via eye-tracking data, one with autism and one non-autistic. We then developed models using artificial intelligence. We investigated whether we can differentiate an individual with autism with the eye-tracking data and with these new models. We also differentiated whether they were autistic or not, based mainly on interaction with web pages rather than specific material.” Professor Yeliz was cited as saying.
