National Council to convene in Geneva prior to informal meeting on Cyprus


 

The Greek Cypriot National Council is to convene Monday morning in Geneva, a few hours before the start of the informal meeting on Cyprus in a broader format.
The members of the National Council going to Geneva are former Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades, the leaders of parliamentary parties DISY, AKEL, DIKO, EDEK, DEPA and the Vice President of the Greens.
According to sources , the Greek Cypriot delegation will consist of, among others, the Greek Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos, the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President, Doros Venezis, the negotiator Menelaos Menelaou, the Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, and a legal team comprising technocrats and members of the state Law Office,
The informal meeting on Cyprus is expected to start at 1900 (local time) on March 17 with a dinner hosted by the UN Secretary-General to welcome the heads of delegations.
On March 18, the UN Secretary-General will hold bilateral meetings with each side between 09:00 and 10:45, followed by a plenary session at the Palais des Nations, the UN headquarters in Geneva, between 11:30 and 14:30.
