New core samples taken from the rubble of Isias Hotel

New core samples were taken on Wednesday from the rubble of the Isias Hotel, which became the grave of a total of 72 people, including the Champion Angels.

Representatives from the Champion Angels Memorial Association and the President of the Bar Association, Hasan Esendağlı, personally observed the sampling process in Adıyaman.

Core samples were taken again from the rubble of the Grand Isias Hotel in Adıyaman, which collapsed in the February 6, 2023, earthquakes, resulting in the death of 72 people, including the Champion Angels, following a court decision in the related case.

In the trial held at the Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court, where 11 defendants, including three in custody, are being prosecuted, it was decided during the hearing on June 12 to take new core samples and send them to Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir.

This decision came upon the request of the parties who objected to the initial reports.

After the decision, a team, including experts, conducted an examination at the site where the hotel debris is located.

The collected core samples were handed over to the university team for detailed analysis, with documentation.

The reports to be prepared regarding these samples will be submitted to the court panel.

The President of the Bar Association, Hasan Esendağlı, who has been following the developments, reminded that the court had decided to take new samples during the last hearing.

Noting that an expert team had arrived at the hotel’s rubble and taken core samples, Esendağlı said, “At the last hearing, the court considered the objections raised by the parties to the reports from the Gazi University and decided to refer the file back to the experts and have another expert team work on the case. The assigned expert team requested to conduct an on-site examination and take core samples if any remnants were found. Today, work was carried out within this scope.”
