Nicosia is set to host Building Bridges: Celebrating the Diversity of Nicosia, a vibrant bicommunal event designed to bring together Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities through music, comedy, art, and a shared market experience.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 18 June, along both sides of the Ledra Street/Lokmacı crossing, under the joint auspices of Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos and Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı. It is supported by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), and CyprusInno.
From 18:00 to 22:00, attendees will be treated to a range of cultural experiences, including local crafts, food stalls, and live performances.
One of the evening’s highlights will be a Bicommunal Comedy Show hosted by Konstantinos Psillides at Yiayia Victoria Café at 19:30. The show—organized by Black Lemon—will feature comedians Christina Tryphonos, Hakan Coban, Vasilis Panayiotou, and George Elisseos, whose engaging and inclusive humour explores identity, community, and coexistence in Cyprus.
The celebration will continue at 21:00 in Arasta Square with a performance by the “Let’s Sing Together” band. Titled Songs Without Borders: A Tribute to Peace and Cultural Harmony, the concert invites audiences to join in a collective expression of unity through music.
The event not only marks a celebration of Nicosia’s cultural richness but also sends a strong message: cooperation, creativity, and shared experiences build stronger, more resilient communities.
