North Cyprus targets production of 1000 tons local bananas every year

The banana production in Yeşilırmak (Limnitis), Yeşilyurt (Pentageia), Gaziveren (Kazivera), and Karpaz (Karpasia) regions are increasing every year.

Speaking to Gıynık News, the Yedidalga (Pentageia) – Yeşilırmak (Limnitis) Producers Association President Salahi Atalar said that domestic banana harvest this year and next year will increase to 1000 tons. Noting that local bananas are preferred more over imported bananas due to their smell, taste, and thin skin, Atalar noted that the production of local bananas has increased.

400 TONS OF BANANAS PRODUCTION NOT ENOUGH FOR INCREASED DEMAND

Atalar said that they have increased the production of local bananas as 400 tons of local bananas produced in North Cyprus are not enough for the increasing demand in the country. He also emphasized that they have increased the number of local banana producers in North Cyprus too.
“Banana production is now being carried out in the Yeşilırmak (Limnitis), Yeşilyurt (Pentageia), Gaziveren (Kazivera), and Karpaz (Karpasia) regions” Atalar was cited as saying.
