The Greek Cypriot side submitted, last month, its proposal for the opening of new crossing points, but Turkish Cypriot side has not yet done so.
Cyprus News Agency has learnt that the proposal includes the opening of crossing points at Pyroi– Athienou and Kokkina.
The proposal was submitted by the Greek Cypriot negotiator, Menelaos Menelaou and so far no reaction or comment has been made by the Turkish Cypriot side and its negotiator Guner Onar.
Yesterday Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides said that he is ready to discuss the issue as early as Monday, adding that our side has made all the preparatory work.
Last week the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, spoke about a difference of opinion on the issue of opening of new crossing points and claimed that the Greek Cypriots want crossing points through military areas in Pyroi and Kokkina and not regular crossing points, adding that this is not something they discussed in the recent meeting they had with UNSG in New York.
