Our forests are in danger!

60 percent of red pine forests have been affected by the pine processionary caterpillars.

According to Halkın Sesi, the Environment Platform, and the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association have decided to launch an action to tackle the pine processionary caterpillars.

The Environment Platform and the Medical Association pointed out that at a time when forests were destroyed, not a single penny was included in the budget for the fight against the pine processionary caterpillars.

Experts emphasized that the Minister of Agriculture, Hüseyin Çavuş, broke his appointments on this issue.
Pointing out that there are children consulting doctors due to pine processionary allergy, experts said that the risk is higher in children due to pine processionary insects found on trees in school gardens and parks.
Experts also stated that almost all of the 25 thousand hectares of red pine trees were infected and warned by saying, “Our forests are in danger.”
