A ‘Passenger Detection Survey’ will be implemented as of Monday, July 15, to determine the passenger profile by collecting data on passengers entering/exiting the country.
The survey will also determine the framework to be used for the sampling and analysis of the ‘Departing Passenger’ and ‘Entering Resident’ to be implemented in 2025.
The ‘Passenger Detection Survey’ will be applied to everyone initiated in cooperation with the Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, the Central Bank and the Statistical Institute.
The first phase will be carried out via the airport, sea ports and all land borders.
In a joint statement by the Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, the Central Bank and the Statistical Institute, it was stated that reliable and up-to-date data is needed to prepare plans and programmes related to the tourism sector.
The statement also said that information from the survey will help develop planning and marketing activities related to the tourism sector. It was noted that it will shed light and enable the production of comparable tourism statistics in line with EU standards.
