The People’s Party leader (HP) Kudret Özersay has announced that he has filed a criminal complaint to the Chief Public Prosecutor against the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı for not notifying the Parliament of the changes his assets and the Parliament for the incorrect application and violation of the Asset Declaration Law, which also paved the for MPs to commit a crime.
Özersay in his statement said that, “According to the relevant law, not only Erhan Arıklı but all MPs are obliged to declare the sources of their wealth to Parliament. This is a legal obligation. He further stated that necessary checks and comparisons to determine whether crimes such as false declaration, unjust acquisition of property, hiding assets, deception, and similar offenses are not being carried out. He added that it is the duty of the politicians to pursue these matters. Although the law says that the source of the wealth will be reported to the Parliament and that a comparison will be made between different notifications, the Parliament does not implement the law in this way.”
