The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate warned the public about scam posts have on social media, which invite them to participate in investments that bring very large profits in a short period of time.
The public is advised to be very careful with new investment proposals, as there is a serious risk of being defrauded via the Internet by pyramid schemes and to trust licensed organizations for investments.
In these posts, there is talk of specific investments, which are allegedly made by political figures, and which allegedly yield large financial returns. In order to convince the public of the authenticity of these posts, the astute use in their posts, false reports of international media and other similar organizations.
The Police call on the public to be especially careful and not to follow such posts as it is a scam. Police also urged the public, who want to engage in investments, to trust only registered and licensed financial institutions.
