The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage has completed the preservation work on the historic mosque in Çakırlar, also known as Tera village, located in the Paphos region. Work is ongoing at three other mosques in southern Cyprus.
Ali Tuncay, Co-Chair of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage operating under the Presidency, stated that the preservation efforts at the Çakırlar (Tera Village) Mosque in the Paphos region have been completed.
Tuncay noted that the mosque’s structural integrity was preserved, and comprehensive interventions were made to maintain its architectural and historical significance.
He added that the site had been cleared, vegetation removed, and the wall plaster, roof, wooden doors, and windows repaired.
Tuncay also reported that preservation work continues at mosques in South Cyprus, with the restoration of the Düzkaya (also known as Evdim) Mosque nearing completion, while work at the Taşkent (Dohni) and Tuzla mosques is ongoing.
