An agreement on prices of meat was signed between the Animal Producers Association, the Butchers Association and the government. The ceiling price for lamb meat has been determined as 550 TL.
Making a statement following the Council of Ministers meeting, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, announced that the state will be supporting butchers with a fee of 800 TL per lamb, provided that the lamb is not older than the age of one.
Üstel emphasized that, according to the agreement between the butchers, a fixed price will be set and the price of lamb meat will not exceed 550 TL. He added that inspections will be carried at out at butchers on a regular basis.
Noting that inspections will be in practice soon, Üstel requested that butchers selling meat for a higher price should be reported immediately.
