The Penal draft law was unanimously approved during an extraordinary session of the Republics Assembly.
The prison sentence for fatal traffic accidents, leading to death, has been increased from seven to fourteen years.
In addition, the authority of the court to confiscate a driver’s license or ban from driving has been expanded, regardless of the country in which it was issued, including students licenses.
The rule of drivers being brought to court within five days has been changed to five working days on the grounds of difficulties experienced in implementation in cases such as drivers either running away or being in the hospital.
