Protests in Limassol under tight security measures

Limassol was under heightened security measures during two major demonstrations took place simultaneously in different parts of the city on Friday.

The first, organized by ELAM, was held on Anexartisias Street under the slogan “March Against the Criminality of Illegal Immigrants”, drawing an estimated 600-700 participants. Meanwhile, antifascist groups gathered at the Limassol Molos in a counter-protest titled “Against Fascism,” attended by approximately 150 people.

To prevent tensions and ensure public safety, a strong police presence was deployed. The Limassol Police Directorate, in coordination with the Crisis Situation Management Centre, implemented a specialized operational plan to monitor both protests and maintain order.

As a precaution, authorities requested local businesses in the area to close early at 18:30 to minimize potential risks and disruptions.
