The “Inclusive School Education for School Administrators” training was held in collaboration with KTOEÖS and KTÖS at the KTOEÖS conference hall within the scope of the Rainbow Project funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and implemented by the Queer Cyprus Association.

According to a press release issued by Queer Cyprus, the event was held within the scope of the Rainbow Project funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and implemented by the Queer Cyprus Association.

The training aimed to address issues encountered in creating inclusive schools by finding solutions in a multicultural environment, raising awareness on gender equality and diversity, and discussing strategies for creating an inclusive school environment.

The goal was to equip participants, who hold positions as school principals and vice principals, with knowledge and skills that would enable them to more effectively promote inclusive school environments and take action towards creating inclusive schools.

The event commenced with opening speeches by KTOEÖS President Selma Eylem and Expert Yasemin Taneri. In the first session, topics discussed included inclusive education, the concept of school, and multiculturalism, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Güneyli. Following Prof. Güneyli’s presentation, Expert Yasemin Taneri emphasised the importance of addressing gender equality and LGBTI+ rights in the school environment for creating inclusivity. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Şenel Hüsnü Raman delivered a presentation focusing on prejudice, discrimination, their consequences, and attitudes in the northern part of Cyprus. The final segment of the training involved a discussion session on strategies for creating inclusive schools, facilitated by all three experts, followed by a question-and-answer session. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to school principals and vice principals, providing them with an opportunity to discuss practical ways to establish multicultural and inclusive school environments.
