Road accidents claimed 33 lives in 7 months!


 

The increasing fatal traffic accidents in North Cyprus are causing great concern and measures are inadequate.

24 deaths in 54 weeks were reported due to traffic accidents in North Cyprus in 2022, 33 were reported this year, it has been reported.
16 were killed due to speeding, 7 drink-driving, 7 from single-vehicle accidents, 12 head-on collisions, 9 pedestrian deaths, and 2 were killed in cyclist crashes.
The Head of the Traffic Accidents Prevention Association Mehmet Avcı, said that it is the primary duty of the state to ensure road safety and to prevent intentionally committed crimes with deterrent penalties.
Avcı stated that since the laws have no deterrent effect, drink-driving crimes are becoming more and more dangerous.
