School opening delayed for a week later

The Ministry of Education has announced a delay in the start of the 2024-25 academic year for primary and secondary schools. The new school year will now commence on Monday, September 23, a week later than initially planned.

The postponement is due to ongoing teacher appointments, which have not yet been completed. This decision affects all public schools under directorates of Primary Education Department, General Secondary Education Department and Vocational Technical Education Department.

The Council of Ministers published this decision in the Official Gazette yesterday.

It’s worth noting that some private schools affiliated with the Ministry have already begun their academic year, with classes starting last week.
