Serial killer in Kenya confessed to killing 42 women

On Monday, Kenyan police announced that a man they believe to be a serial murderer has confessed to the murder of 42 women, including his wife, and that he had been apprehended after many remains were found at a quarry outside Nairobi.

Early on Monday, authorities claimed they apprehended Collins Jumaisi, a 33-year-old resident of the Mukuru area in the capital’s southern region, who lived near the quarry.

So far, nine bodies have been found from the quarry, according to the acting head of police Douglas Kanja Kirocho.

“It is crystallising that we are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life,” stated Amin Mohamed, head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

According to Mohamed, Jumaisi admitted to killing 42 women and then dumping their bodies in the quarry.

The killings began with Jumaisi’s wife in 2022, according to Mohamed’s broadcast address; the most recent was on July 11.

When they searched Jumaisi’s residence, they allegedly discovered a number of phones, identification cards, what seemed to be a machete, industrial rubber gloves, rolls of sellotape, and twelve nylon bags that matched the ones the victims were found in.

Over the weekend, many people flocked to see the mutilated corpses being removed from the quarry; some even got into skirmishes with the police.

There have been reports linking the remains to the purported kidnappings of teenage protestors by security agents during the most recent street rallies, which has infuriated many local people.

So far, the authorities have not indicated that the discovered corpses are related to the demonstrations.

Officials are testing samples to determine the identities of the victims, according to a government official who shared a police statement on Friday on X. Investigations are now underway.

The majority of the bones were decomposing, according to a rights activist from the Mukuru Community Justice Centre, suggesting that they had been lying there for a while.

Reports of kidnappings by state agents were condemned by President William Ruto earlier this month, who promised to hold accountable any personnel implicated. On Friday, Japhet Koome, the chief of police in Kenya, resigned.
