Six people were injured after a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Taipei encountered turbulence two hours before landing on Thursday.
Turkish Airlines operates one daily and 3x weekly flights between Istanbul and Taipei City, Taiwan.
According to FlightRadar24 data, the Turkish Airlines flight TK24 took off from Istanbul at 11:19 AM UTC. After being airborne for around nine hours, the flight experienced turbulence.
TK24 flight landed safely in Taipei at around 10:00 AM UTC.
Press Counsel and Senior Vice President of Media Relations Yahya Üstün at Turkish Airlines shared an update on X.
“Turkish Airlines flight TK24 from Istanbul to Taipei encounters severe turbulence two hours before landing. The incident affects flight TC-JJE, carrying 214 passengers and 17 crew members” he said .
Ustun noted that four passengers and two cabin crew members sustained minor injuries during the incident.
He said that medical teams met the flight upon landing and provided initial treatment.
