A special lane has been opened at the Metehan (Agios Demetios) checkpoint to ease the crossings for students residing in North Cyprus attending schools in South Cyprus and patients travelling to healthcare institutions from the North to South.
Providing information on the issue, the head of Humanitarian Affairs for Missing and Enclaved Persons in South Cyprus Anna Aristotelous said that the special lane has swiftly been activated.
Aristotelous said that the crossings will be made through a special lane for vehicles and pedestrians of families travelling for their children attending schools in the south of Cyprus and for people especially those living in Koruçam (Kormakitis).
She stated that this lane will also be used by Greek Cypriot patients residing in Dipkarpaz (Rizokarpaso), Sipahi (Agia Triada), Yeşilköy (Agios Andronikos), Koruçam (Kormakitis) and Karpaşa (Karpasha) travelling to South Cyprus hospitals via buses for medical issues.
