Police traffic inspections across the country yesterday resulted in 299 drivers being reported for various violations, with speeding topping the list. One driver was arrested, and 43 vehicles were banned from traffic.
According to the statement from the Police Press Office, inspections were carried out on 1,839 vehicles, and legal action was taken against 299 drivers.
Key violations are 97 for exceeding the speed limit, 38 for using a mobile phone while driving, 33 for driving without a valid license, 12 for disobeying traffic signs, 10 for not wearing a seat belt, 10 for driving without a vehicle inspection, 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 4 for ignoring traffic lights, 2 for driving without insurance, 1 for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, 83 for other offenses.
