The Sweden Democrats and the Liberals want Sweden to begin selling arms to Israel, reports Swedish Radio’s Konflikt programme, something the country hasn’t done since the 1950s.
Israel is accused of committing war crimes in Gaza, and this could mean it is illegal to sell the country weapons. The Liberals argue that Israel is a democracy with the right to defend itself.
None of the other parties in the Riksdag are in favour of selling arms to the country, Morgan Johansson of the opposition Social Democrats says it would be a crime against international law and Swedish legislation.
