Talat “Turkish Cypriots have disappeared in the international arena”

Former Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, has said that the Turkish Cypriots have virtually disappeared in the international arena.
Talat said, “We will probably wait for President Tatar’s term to be completed in order to see a new development on the Cyprus problem”.
“It has been recorded in the United Nations (UN) Security Council that a solution in Cyprus cannot be based on two states. Despite this, if Tatar still advocates a solution based on two states, no one will meet with him” he said in a TV interview.
He added that Turkey is “not expected to make a move” on the matter and that “in any case, Turkey would find itself in a very serious impasse.”
Talat pointed out that solution efforts went back even further than the period of former leader Rauf Raif Denktaş and said, “Denktaş used to meet. He would not say, ‘If you do not recognize the two states, I will not meet with you’. He never ran away from the table,” he said.
Talat has said the Turkish Cypriots have “never been in such a bad situation” as they are today.
“Everything is in a chaotic state. There are serious problems in every domain, from the Cyprus problem to daily life,” he said.
“People are struggling to make ends meet. We have probably never been in such a bad situation. Things are also being managed badly,” he added.
