Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar announced that progress has been made in opening a new gate at ‘Çayhan Düzlüğü’. Tatar referred to his meeting with the Deputy Secretary General for Europe, Central Asia and America at the United Nations (UN) Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Unit Miroslav Jenca.
Noting that he had a meeting with Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu regarding the Pile issue, Tatar said that there was a positive atmosphere concerning the region. He noted that he was informed that progress has been made in opening a new gate in Çayhan Düzlüğü. Referring to the recent attack at the İbrahimağa Köprülü Mosque in Limassol over the weekend, Tatar said that the attack was an outdated and ugly incident, and noted that unfortunately, similar incidents recently took place in South Cyprus. Tatar noted that he conveyed to Jenca that those responsible were never found and brought to justice.
