Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has welcomed the recent announcement regarding the dissolution of the terrorist organization PKK, expressing hope that the development will mark the beginning of a new era of peace and stability across the region.
In a written statement, Tatar said that the process of a “Terror-Free Türkiye” should not only help end the suffering of grieving families but also serve as a catalyst to end conflicts and tensions in the wider region, paving the way for lasting peace.
He credited the development to the visionary leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the determined stance of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli.
He underlined that Türkiye had suffered over four decades of separatist terror, costing the lives of tens of thousands of civilians and security personnel.
Tatar added that this carefully executed state initiative has opened the door to a new atmosphere of peace, not just for Türkiye but the entire region.
