Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar who addressed the Greek Cypriot Leadership repeated his call for cooperation on connecting to Europe via cable through the Republic of Türkiye.”
Tatar stated that it is not logical and feasible for South Cyprus to refuse energy transfer to Europe via Türkiye. He also noted that doing the transfer via Greece would be both costly and difficult.
Tatar said that everyone knows that the Turkish Cypriot side will not approve of a solution in which the majority will rule the minority on a federal basis, excluding Türkiye from the Eastern Mediterranean.
Speaking at the “Eastern Mediterranean Energy Summit“, Tatar emphasized that the parameters of the game in the Eastern Mediterranean have now changed and that the only method to ensure the fair distribution of the potential in the Mediterranean is a two-state solution on the island.
