TDP leader Atlı “We have a right to be a part of international law”


 

The Leader of the Social Democratic Party Mine Atlı (TDP), who held contacts in Brussels, attended a panel. According to a statement made by TDP, Atlı who spoke at the ‘Transformative Vision for the Inclusion of Gender Dimension in Peace and Security’ panel emphasized that women who were victims of rape in the war are still experiencing trauma.
Atlı, who also had a meeting with the Türkiye main opposition party of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Brussels representative, criticized the fact that there was no effective lobbying taking place on the solution process in Cyprus.
Evaluating her contacts in Brussels, Atlı expressed her belief towards the changing power of women and that such events play a key role in the solution of the Cyprus problem.
Mine Atlı said that the confrontation period of the trauma experienced by women during the war did not take place in Cyprus.
“Women who are victims of rape are still living with the trauma” Atlı said adding that no steps were taken by the state for confrontation or enhancement on the issue.
The experiences of women in war;
“If we listen with our female identities and not with a racial identity, and give each other space to express ourselves, we can heal each other.” Atlı is cited as saying.
