TEKNOFEST KKTC officially opened its doors to the public yesterday at the site of the former Ercan Airport, marking the festival’s first-ever edition in Northern Cyprus. The event, which began with an opening ceremony, will run through Sunday, May 4.
The festival is organized under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation. It brings together a range of institutions and organizations affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology to showcase their latest innovations and scientific advancements.
Key participants include the Turkish Space Agency, KOSGEB, various development agencies, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, and the Turkish Standards Institute. These institutions are hosting exhibitions, interactive events, and workshops covering a wide array of fields, from the defense industry and artificial intelligence to space exploration and domestic production technologies.
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) is also prominently featured, with a central booth composed of two thematic tents. The TÜBİTAK space offers visitors hands-on science and technology experiences, including workshops, demonstrations, and knowledge-based competitions designed to engage audiences of all ages.
A highlight of the event is the participation of 86 finalist teams representing primary, secondary, high school, and university levels. These teams will present their innovative projects, which will be evaluated by juries in four dedicated rooms over the first three days of the festival.
