Upon his arrival at Ercan Airport, Yılmaz outlined the objectives of his visit and Türkiye’s stance on key issues affecting the region.
During his stay, Yılmaz is scheduled to meet with Turkish Cypriot Leader Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and other government partners. These meetings will focus on evaluating current projects, strategies for strengthening the economy, and recent developments in the Cyprus issue.

He called for an end to the isolation of Turkish Cypriots, stating, “Direct flights and direct trade with North Cyprus should begin.”
The Vice President highlighted the importance of cooperation between Türkiye and North Cyprus, saying, “We are in Nicosia to make contacts regarding the cooperation between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to examine ongoing projects and to take new concrete steps.”
A key focus of Yılmaz’s visit is energy security in North Cyprus. He announced plans for an evaluation meeting on this topic, which will include representatives from all political parties in the Parliament. The meeting aims to identify problems, needs, and solutions to achieve sustainable results quickly in ensuring energy supply security.
Emphasizing the significance of sustainable energy infrastructure, Yılmaz stated, “A sustainable energy infrastructure not only meets today’s needs but also ensures future growth and prosperity. For this reason, we attach great importance to the issue of energy supply in terms of the security and development of Cyprus.”
