Two Hungarian nationals were sentenced to prison on Friday for illegally promoting and advertising the sale of Greek Cypriot property in the Northen Cyprus.
The first woman, received a two-and-a-half-year sentence after pleading guilty to 21 of the 63 charges brought against her. The second defendant, was sentenced to 15 months, having admitted to six of the same charges. The remaining charges were suspended following their guilty pleas.
The women are the first individuals to admit guilt in cases concerning the usurpation of Greek Cypriot property in the Northern Cyprus.
Court proceedings revealed that the pair had promoted the sale of housing complexes built near the Kyrenia district villages of Bahceli (Kalogrea) and Esentepe ( Ayios Amvrosios )through their social media platforms.
