British police started a major manhunt on Wednesday after three ladies, including the wife and daughters of a BBC horse racing announcer, were killed in a green town outside London in an attack that authorities suspect included a crossbow.
Officers found the three victims, aged 25, 28, and 61, with critical injuries at a residence in Bushey, 20 miles northwest of London, on Tuesday evening. They died at the site shortly afterward.
The BBC confirmed the women as Carol Hunt, the wife of commentator John Hunt, and two of their daughters.
Kyle Clifford, the suspect, has now been the subject of a massive search by armed cops. Police have asked him to turn himself in and cautioned the public not to approach the 26-year-old.
The event was described as “horrific” by Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson, who told reporters that a crossbow and maybe additional weapons were involved.
“Our overarching objective today is to protect public safety and to locate Kyle Clifford who is wanted in connection with the murder of the three women in what we believe is a targeted incident,” according to Simpson.
“Impossible to comprehend the pain. Just know we are all here for you John. We love you pal – racing loves you,” ITV horse racing commentator Matt Chapman said on X.
