Deputy Chairman of the Health and Social Sciences University of Cyprus (KSTÜ) Board of Trustees and former minister Kemal Dürüst, who was arrested within the scope of the fake diploma investigation, has been released on bail with a guarantee of 400 thousand TL, a surety of a 1 million TL bill for 4 guarantors, an international travel ban and police checks every two weeks.
New findings of (KSTÜ) Assistant General Secretary Berke Özbek, who is still detained, has been detected following further investigations. Meanwhile, an institution called Cyprus Massachusetts Center Of Innovation which gave a Pakistani student a secondary school graduate certificate for 1000 Euros, also brought students from abroad, giving them university certificates and carrying out immigration processes.
The police announced that there were registration files of many foreign students at the educational institution, yet most students could not be reached.
The police also announced that 20 students gave statements to the police stating that they were told they could get an associate degree and a 4-year bachelor’s degree if they enrolled in the institution. The police said that the students paid 1000 Euros or 1000 Dollars as tuition fees, noting that the school’s registration fee was 500 Dollars, and emphasized that the incident may also have a swindler aspect.
