Unusual summer downpour drenches Kyrenia


 

An unexpected mid-summer rainfall event has significantly impacted the Girne (Kyrenia) region, according to recent data from the Meteorology Department.

In the past 24 hours, Girne (Kyrenia) experienced the heaviest precipitation, with 16 millimeters of rain per square meter.

The department’s report highlights varying rainfall amounts across different areas:

* Girne (Kyrenia): 16 mm/m²
* Boğaz: 15 mm/m²
* Karaoğlanoğlu (Agios Georgios): 14 mm/m²
* Lefkoşa (Nicosia): 2 mm/m²
* Alsancak (Karavas), Gemikonağı (Karavostasi) and NEU regions: 1 mm/m²

Other areas recorded less than 1 mm of rainfall per square meter.
