US Embassy honoured International Visitor Leadership Program Alumni for their projects

The US Embassy held an event yesterday to honour three alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) for their outstanding projects. Head of Public Affairs, Elaine Paplos, presented certificates to Dr. Nicoletta Demetriou, Ms. Beran Djemal, and Ms. Antigoni Komodiki.

Dr. Nicoletta Demetriou and Ms. Beran Djemal were awarded the 2024 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) Award for their bicommunal project, Cyprus Music Archive “From Oral to Recorded and Disseminated: Collecting the. Folk Songs, Poetry, and Oral Traditions of Cyprus.

The initiative focuses on collecting and preserving Cypriot folk songs, poetry, and oral traditions, making them accessible to the public through an online, open-access repository.

Ms. Antigoni Komodiki, Director of the Junior Achievement program in Cyprus, received the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Impact Award for her bicommunal initiative, Young Female Leaders. The program supports young women by providing mentorship and helping them improve their English proficiency, empowering them to become future leaders of Cyprus.
