There have been 423 cases of physical violence against women in North Cyprus in the last 10 months. During this period, one woman was murdered, 181 women were subjected to verbal abuse and 17 women were subjected to sexual harassment or violence.
According to a police report, a total of 831 complaints have been made to the Violence Against Women branch of the General Directorate of Police between January 1, 2023 and November 1, 2023. One case of murder, 423 cases of physical violence, 182 cases of verbal violence, 17 cases of sexual violence and 209 other cases were reported.
The statement said that the complaints put forward were investigated sensitively and legal action has been launched.
