The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), under the World Health Organization, announced that the talc mineral found in cosmetic products is classified as a possible carcinogen that can cause cancer in humans.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in a written statement said that 29 researchers examined scientific research on “talc” found in cosmetic products.
It was stated that people were exposed to the “talc” mineral by working in mines and the paper industry or by using cosmetic products, and it was emphasized that there was a constant increase in ovarian cancer cases in women who reported using body powder containing talc in the “perineal area”.
Following scientific studies it was revealed that malignant tumors were found in female mice exposed to “talc”, and both benign and malignant tumors in male mice.
The findings of IARC were included in the article published in the journal “The Lancet Oncology”.
