Cyprus takes the lead at the 2024 World Sailing Awards. A heartfelt moment for the Winds of Change initiative, as it has proudly received the prestigious 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award at the World Sailing Awards in Singapore. Through its vision and dedication, Winds of Change is charting new courses for peace and sustainability, using sailing as a bridge that unites, inspires, and empowers the youth of Cyprus in a collective effort for a shared purpose.
Founded by Olympian and IOC Young Leader Sophia Papamichalopoulos, Winds of Change aims to unite the youth of Cyprus through sailing. With the motto “Challenge | Empower | Inspire | Together,” Winds of Change encourages young people to break boundaries and overcome prejudices, envisioning an island that coexists harmoniously, free from the barriers of the past.
This award is not just a recognition; it is an acknowledgment of the invaluable work carried out by the Winds of Change team and the wider community supporting its vision. It highlights the significant impact of the initiative in promoting peace, environmental responsibility, and collaboration in Cyprus and globally.
The 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award, established in 2018, celebrates impactful initiatives that serve the World Sailing Sustainability Agenda 2030.
